Ateneo de Davao University Graduation on 21 March
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Davao City - Ateneo de Davao University will have its University Commencement on Saturday morning, 21 March 2009, at the ADDU Matina Sports Complex. Over 1,160 graduates from the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business and Governance, and the College of Nursing will receive their undergraduate degrees.

118 students will graduate with academic honors, led by Trisha Kristel D. Wee, BS Nursing, cum laude, and class valedictorian, and Maria Ilsea W. Salvador, AB Philosophy, cum laude, class salutatorian and recipient of the Faith and Justice Award. James Earl S. Chew, AB Political Science, will receive the Leadership Award.

Justice Antonio T. Carpio, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, will be conferred an honorary doctorate of laws in recognition of his outstanding service and record in the legal profession, in government and in private practice. Justice Carpio, a native DavaoeƱo and ADDU alumnus, will address the graduating class.

Fr. Robert C. Hogan S.J. will receive the Archbishop Clovis Thibault Award in recognition of his quiet life as a Jesuit teacher and priest, especially his unselfish concern for the poor and the disadvantaged through the Daily Bread feeding program. The Philippine Catholic Lay Mission will be bestowed the Drs. Jess and Trining de la Paz Award in recognition of the group's generous and dedicated work of sending lay missioners within and outside the Philippines.
