Photographer’s Code of Ethics


1. Strive to present myself in a manner that reflects the highest levels of professionalism; and deal with all others in matters relating to photography with honesty and integrity.

Specifically:

2. I will not show, publish, or exhibit any picture without the models prior permission.

3. I will act in a professional and responsible manner at all times.

4. I will not engage in any behavior that may be deemed harassment.

5. I will not engage in any speech that may be deemed harassment.

6. I will not touch any model without asking for and getting her/his permission prior to doing so.

7. I will not hog any particular model, background, or scene and will allow the other photographers ample time to take their pictures.

8. I will not show any model pictures of herself/ himself she/he might consider embarrassing, unless she/ he specifically asks to see them.

9. I will not take time away from any model or the other photographers during an event to show my portfolio.

Also:

10. I will not allow any other photographer to violate this code of ethics and will promptly report him to the teacher, sponsors or organizers of the event and or other appropriate authorities.

11. I will strive to upgrade and improve my knowledge and skill of photography and to put this new knowledge to use.

12. I will strive at all times to produce photography in accordance with the highest levels of professionalism.

13. In all dealings with my mentor, fellow photographers, students and others who aspire to be photographers, I shall share the knowledge and skill of photography; and I will support efforts for and assist in the education of all interested persons in the art and science of photography.

14. I will not violate any laws about photography and especially child pornography. I will immediately report to the proper authorities any activities I may become aware of which might be child pornography or child molestation, sexual harassment

(cf. Republic Act 7610 “An Act Providing for Stronger Deterrence and Special Protection Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination and other Purposes” and Republic Act 7877 “Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995”)
