In Memory of Serafin Dinsay, Jr

Serafin was a classmate and friend when I was first year high school at St. Augustine Academy, Bayawan, Negros Oriental. I was shocked in 2004 when I learned he was murdered in Bayawan on his way to Sta. Catalina - it was a robbery case. Serafin's group was bringing the payroll money from a bank in Bayawan.

Here are some excerpts news I got in net after searching his name:

Communist party leader says Amaro 'murdered'
By Edmund Sestoso

"He said the leadership confirmed the rubout angle after an inspection of the body that showed bullet wounds on the back.

Amaro brothers, Julito, alias Ka Julo and Jaime, along with Raul Villar, alias Ka Drilon, are wanted for the May 18, 2002 payroll robbery holdup and multiple murders in Sta. Catalina.

Killed in that P370,000 heist were Sta. Catalina municipal employees Librado Dagat, bookkeeper Winnie Capunong, L-300 van driver Serafin Dinsay, and midwife Virginia Edrial.

The two Amaros, former members of the Revolutionary Proletariat Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade, soon after returned to their former NPA group after they were disowned by their former comrades."

Convicted NPA leader
vows to continue ‘fight’

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

"He was meted a life term last July 15, 2008, for the robbery with multiple homicide charges in relation to the death of four people in Bayawan, Negros Oriental last May 10, 2002.

In that incident, Librado Dagat, Serafin Dinsay, Jr., Winnie Capunong, and Virginia Edrial, all of Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental, were killed when the government-owned vehicle they were riding was waylaid by armed men.

The victims were just returning after withdrawing payroll money of more than P300,000 when the heist was staged in Barangay Maninihon, Bayawan.

Witnesses later identified the suspects as Villar, the alleged mastermind, and brothers Julito and Jaime Amaro.

The Amaro brothers bolted from the provincial jail several time after they were captured, and one was killed in an encounter later with government troops while another is still at large."
