BACCALAUREATE MASS AND THE HOODING CEREMONY

(a) One (1) parent is required to accompany the candidate during the Processional March for the Baccalaureate Mass. The accompanying parents should come in their “Sunday Best” to give credence to the solemnity of the occasion. The candidates, on the other hand, shall wear the prescribed graduation attire (the details of which are enumerated in page 4).
(b) Candidates who do not profess the Catholic faith may not join the Baccalaureate Mass as an exercise of their religious freedom.
(c) The Hooding Ceremony immediately follows right after the Baccalaureate Mass. For non-Catholic candidates who do not wish to attend the mass but desires to participate in the hooding ceremony, reserved seats shall be made available for them and their parents. The parents shall be seated behind the candidates and shall facilitate the placing of hoods upon the latter to symbolize their completed college degree.
DISTRIBUTION OF GATE PASSES AND GRADUATION PROGRAMS
As scheduled, the distribution of gate passes and graduation programs shall be done after the Hooding Ceremony. The distribution of gate passes and graduation programs shall be personally facilitated by the assigned Senior Advisers at the graduates’ dressing rooms, as much as possible (see attached dressing rooms for graduates, p. 8). Three (3) gate passes and two (2) graduation programs shall be provided to each candidate for graduation. The three (3) gate passes are strictly allocated for the following persons: one (1) for the candidate and two (2) for the accompanying parents, relatives, guardians or other invited guests. The “NO GATE PASS, NO ADMISSION” policy shall be firmly enforced during the Graduation Day for security reasons.

One (1) picture (with a size of 8” by 10”, digital colored) shall be taken during the Class Pictorial on the 19th of March, 2009 outside the Ateneo College Chapel (see Class Pictorial). The Ateneo Grounds (or any locations nearby) may serve as dressing areas. During the day of the Commencement Exercises, the photographer shall take two (2) pictures per graduate, namely: one (1) picture (with a size of 5” by 7”) upon receiving of the diploma and one (1) picture before or after bowing. All these three (3) pictures cost PhP150.00.
To facilitate payment of graduation pictures, the class president per program (or the assigned class representative) shall spearhead the collection of fees anytime during the Graduation Week (March 13-20, 2009). The collection shall then be forwarded by the same person to the official photographers who will set up a payment station at the Covered Court, near the P.E. Department.
Payments shall be received beginning March 13, 2009 at the aforesaid venue (during mornings only). The class representative must bring the list of candidates who have successfully made the payments and should present the same to the official photographers before issuance of official receipts is made. Official receipts are required in the claiming of graduation pictures. Those who cannot pay to the class president or representative may pay directly to the official photographers on the said venue and time.

Assembly Time and Breakfast (at assigned Dressing Rooms) - 6:00 a.m.
Formation (at the Field) - 6:20 a.m.
First Buzzer (Ready) - 6:30 a.m.
Second Buzzer (SET) - 6:50 a.m.
Processional March for the Graduation Rites - 7:00 a.m.
GRADUATION ATTIRE DURING THE CLASS PICTORIAL, BACCALAUREATE MASS AND COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES
(1) The toga is to be worn during the day of the Class Pictorial, Baccalaureate Mass, and Commencement Exercises.
(2) Secure your togas early. Togas should be brought for inspection by the Senior Advisers during the General Rehearsals on the 13th of March 2008.
(3) The Senior Advisers must see to it that:
[a.] Men’s togas are approximately (8) eight inches from the floor.
[b.] Women’s togas are approximately (7) inches below the knees.
(4) Parents, faculty and non-teaching staff are enjoined to come in their formal habiliment on the day of the Commencement Exercises except for the administrators and other faculty members who will be required to wear their academic robes if they intend to join the academic procession.
What to wear under the toga
(a) Men are required to wear white or off-white long–sleeved shirt with black/dark blue pants and black/dark necktie. Black shoes are preferred. Sandals or rubber shoes are not allowed.
(b) Ladies are to wear the Ateneo school uniform (which should be shorter than the toga) and closed black shoes (or pumps). Stockings are optional.
(c) The mortarboard/cup should be worn horizontally on the head, with the point directly in the center front, with the tassels on the left.

SECURITY AND PARKING
In view of needed order and security, the following will be observed at the University Commencement at the Matina Campus for the Baccalaureate Mass on Friday afternoon, 20 March and the graduation proper on Saturday morning, 21 March:
1. Except for cars with special permits, no cars will be allowed to enter the Matina Campus. Only security and emergency vehicles, cars of special guests and University officials will be allowed to park on campus.
2. Graduating students, their parents and guests are asked to use Gate 6 on Acacia Street and Gate 2 on McArthur Highway for pedestrian entrance.
3. All cars of graduating students passing through Acacia Street may be subject to inspection. Inasmuch as Acacia Street is a two-way street, parking is allowed on one side (Ateneo side) by the Traffic Management Group of the City.
4. Graduation passes should be presented at the gate upon entry. Each graduate is allowed only two guests. All may be subject to inspection at the gates.
